1. FLUID MECHANICS
Fluid mechanics can be done by two ways either follow path A or B
A. Standard book – Unit Operations of Chemical Engineering by McCabe and Smith
- Chapter 2- Fluid Statics and its Applications.
- Chapter 3-Fluid Flow Phenomena.
- Chapter 4-Basic Equations of Fluid Flow.
- Chapter 5-Flow of Incompressible Fluids in Conduits and Thin Layers.
- Chapter 7-Flow Past immersed bodies.
- Chapter 8- Transportation and Metering of Fluid (Start reading this chapter from fluid moving machinery before measurement of flowing fluids. In measurement of flowing fluids topic just study orifice meter, venturi meter, rotameters and pitot tube).
In addition to this you have to follow nptel web lectures on fluid mechanics by Nishith Verma. The link is given below.

Withthese two things Mccabe Smith book and nptel Lecture your fluid for gate will be completed.
B. Standard book- Fluid Mechanics fundamental and applications by cengel
- Chapter 1- INTRODUCTION AND BASIC CONCEPTS
- Chapter 2-PROPERTIES OF FLUIDS
- Chapter 3-PRESSURE AND FLUID STATICS
- Chapter 4-FLUID KINEMATICS
- Chapter 5- BERNOULLI AND ENERGY EQUATIONS
- Chapter 6- MOMENTUM ANALYSIS OF FLOW SYSTEMS
- Chapter 7-DIMENSIONAL ANALYSIS AND MODELING
- Chapter 8-INTERNAL FLOW
- Chapter 9- DIFFERENTIAL ANALYSIS OF FLUID FLOW
- Chapter 10- APPROXIMATE SOLUTIONS OF THE NAVIER–STOKES EQUATION
- Chapter 11-EXTERNAL FLOW: DRAG AND LIFT
- Chapter 14- TURBOMACHINERY (only pumps and compressors)
2. Unit Operation
Standard Book- Unit Operations of Chemical Engineering by McCabe and Smith
- Chapter 28- Properties, Handling and Mixing of Particulate Solids.
- Chapter 29- Size Reduction.
- Chapter 30- Mechanical Separations
- Chapter 9- Agitation and Mixing of Liquids ( No need to do non-newtonian fluid part)
Read chapter 9 till blending and Mixing.( I myself had studied till blending and mixing part only that’s why I recommending to study till here.)
Filtration part can also be done from the filtration lectures of given nptel lectures instead of book.
